What is a Mental Health Counselor?
Mental counselors, health are trained in counseling and psychotherapy to treat individuals with mental and emotional disorders and other behavioral challenges. Mental health counselors address mental health, human relationship, education and career concerns within ethical, developmental, preventive and treatment contexts. Mental health counselors demonstrate a concern for the short-term and long-term well-being of individuals, couples, families, groups, and organizations.
Mental health counselors are dedicated to the optimal functioning of individuals, families, and organizations. The mental health counselor uses standard mental health assessment and evaluation protocols, develops patient psychosocial histories, writes treatment plans, documents patient progress, facilitates consultation and referral with other providers, and implements discharge plans. How much does therapy or counseling cost if I don't have insurance?We have self-pay rates for our clients who don't have insurance and those whose insurance plans we are not contracted with. The cost of therapy ranges from $100 - $185 per session. Please reach out to our Customer Service department to inquire about additional rates. Dx Evaluation or clinical Evaluation $180 Counseling session $155 DUI Evaluation $350 with Karla Arroyo, if required by the court Immigration Evaluation (U Visa, VAWA evaluations) $1,200-$2,000 depending on how many people MCC offers sliding scale fees (adjusted self-pay rates) for those who are facing financial hardship. Please connect with our customer service team and submit the requested information to see if you qualify for our sliding scale fee rates. MCC also has access to several state grants under which your services may be covered.

What payment methods do you accept?We accept payments through credit/debit cards as well as cash.

Can I be reimbursed by my insurance?If you are consider using your health insurance, please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions to your provider: Do I have mental health insurance benefits? What is my deductible and has it been met? How many sessions does my mental health insurance cover? What is the copay amount per therapy session? *It's the clients responsibility to know what is or is not included in their specific health insurance plan. The client will have ultimate financial responsibility for the cost of the services received at MCC.

What is your no-show policy?No Show Policy Purpose The no-show policy sets guidelines, rules, and penalties to manage clients who miss their appointments. This policy aims to discourage missed appointments and reduce their adverse impact on MCC, staff, and clients seeking appointments. Scope This policy applies to all clients seeking services at MCC, regardless of the contract or funding source. Policy Clients are allowed two no-show appointments before being added to the waitlist for a new appointment with a clinician, skills counselor, or peer support. If MCC cannot charge the no-show fee, the client will be placed on the waitlist. The provider will send a text message informing the client of the no-show and the applicable fee. Extenuating circumstances will be considered if the client informs the agency or provider. Clients with a no-show fee must clear their balance or set up a payment plan before scheduling a new appointment. Service Fee Assessment= $100.00 Counseling (Therapy)= $50.00 Skills Counseling= $50.00 Support Services (CM-PSS)= $25.00 Groups= $15.00

How late can I cancel an appointment?We kindly request a 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24-hour notice or do not show for your appointment, you will be charged a no-show fee of $100 for a scheduled DX Evaluation or $50 for a scheduled therapy session. Please note, most insurance providers do not cover these fees.

Do you accept health insurance?Multicultural Counseling Center, MCC is currently in-network with the following insurance providers: Aetna Crime Victim Reparation-CVR Department of Health and Human Security - DHHS EMI Health Optum SLCo/Medicaid Molina Health Care Medicare Medicaid New Horizon SW Services Administrators Public Employees Health Plan- PEHP Regence BCBS SelectHealth Tri-Care U of U Health Plans United Health Care We can work with other insurance companies as an out-of-network provider. If you have any questions please call us at 801-915-0359. We are working to expand our services by contracting with other insurance providers. Often, there are options available if you have insurance through a provider that is not on the list above. If you do not have health insurance benefits, we would be happy to provide our services to you at our self-pay rates. Please contact us if you need assistance in understanding your insurance benefits and eligibility.
