Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is a type of therapy to assist you and your significant other improve your relationship. Although many relationships wait until there is a problem to enter couples therapy, it is recommended that couples attend couples therapy to maintain a healthy relationship. MCC offers couples therapy for married couples, domestic partners and dating couples.
Counseling Process
Couples therapy provides you an option so that you are not consumed with the stress and despair that comes when there is a major conflict in your relationship. Couples may experience a lack of satisfaction or distress or endless arguments that lead to resentment.

Much like in individual therapy, the first couple of sessions will involve assessment and treatment planning. The therapist, your partner and yourself will work on determining areas of need and set specific goals.

The therapist will use a variety of therapeutic techniques until your goals are met, including but not limited to teaching you communication skills, pointing out thinking errors and suggesting activities to complete as a couple to find common ground to start the healing process.
